SCHOLARSHIPS -continued PETER P. TYCZ II MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP The Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 77 are proud to sponsor the Peter P. Tycz II Memorial Scholarship. It is designed for a senior student who has a unique blend of academic achievement and community service. Criteria: -
reside in Niagara or Erie County. -
has a relative who is/was a veteran (reservists who have completed 180 continuous days of service are considered veterans.) -
anticipates enrollment in an accredited program of higher education beginning in the fall of 2010. Applications available in the guidance office. Application deadline: May 1, 2010 WNY ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL NURSES MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP $500-$1,000 awards are available for this scholarship. Criteria: · Graduating high school senior accepted into an accredited BS school of nursing in New York State. · Resident of Erie or Niagara County · Blood or marriage relative of current or retired member of Western New York Association of School Nurses is a bonus! Applications are available in the guidance office. Application deadline: April 21, 2010 ERIE COUNTY AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP The Erie County Agricultural Society will award up to $14,000 in scholarship funds this June, 2010. Eligible applicants must have been active with the Erie County Fair. Applications are available in the guidance office or online at www.ecfair.org Application Deadline: April 16, 2010. NYS ASSOCIATION OF AGRICULTURAL FAIRS & THE NYS SHOWPEOPLE’S ASSOCIATION ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM This scholarship program is available to all students who are currently or have previously been active in a member fair. Applicants must be residents of the State of New York, be sponsored by a member Fair of this Association and attend or plan to attend an accredited institution of higher learning. A minimum of six (6) $1,000 scholarships will be awarded annually. Applications must be downloaded from the NYSAAF website, www.nyfairs.org Application Deadline: April 9, 2010 ALLENTOWN VILLAGE SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIPS Four $2,000 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors accepted at post secondary schools in an art study program. Additional information and applications may be downloaded at the website:www.allentownartfestival.com/apps.htm Application Deadline: April 10, 2010 ENGINEERING SOCIETY OF BUFFALO, INC. SCHOLARSHIPS The Engineering Society of Buffalo will award three (3) scholarships worth $2,000 per year to students who anticipate acceptance in the engineering curriculum at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Also awarded will be one (1) scholarships worth $1,000 per year to a student who anticipates acceptance in the any engineering science or engineering technology curriculum at Erie Community College or Niagara County Community College. The awards are selected on the basis of scholastic record, financial need, personality, extracurricular activities and potential leadership qualities. Forms may be downloaded at www.tesb.org Application Deadline: June 1, 2010 NICHOLAS PATTERSON PERPETUAL FUND 2006 SCHOLARSHIP This scholarship was established under the Last Will and Testament of the late Mr. Patterson who died in 1985. All applicants must be residents of Erie County. A Committee of three members will read all the applications and make recommendations to the Trustee of the Fund, based on the character and fitness of each applicant. No candidate will be eliminated because he/she is not an outstanding student, but candidates who do not follow the instructions will be eliminated. The purpose of this scholarship is to help students develop the skills to become hard working citizens and who upon the completion of their studies will be ready to contribute to their communities and their country. Most scholarship awards range between $500 and $2000. Information and forms are available in the guidance office. Application Deadline: May 15, 2010 - mailed, faxed or e-mailed. Free Credit Bearing College Courses Held at Bryant & Stratton Bryant and Stratton College is offering college courses at their Orchard Park Campus. SAT Preparation Course Trocaire College is offering a SAT prep course on Wednesdays, March 24, 31, April 14, 21, & 28 (no class April 4) from 6:00 to 9:00 pm, room 27. The fee for this course is $119. Stop in the guidance office for more information and registration form.
Driver Education will be held this summer at North Collins High School. Dates, times and cost are forthcoming. Students may sign up in the guidance office. Order of student selection is based on birthdate with 2011 seniors chosen first. Next are juniors, private school students, home school students, and out of district students. Students must also attend a mandatory driver ed. meeting. Mr. Manchester, summer driver ed. proctor, will announce this date soon.
