Keep Collecting Box Tops for Education!

Let's Make 2010-11 a Banner Year!

Welcome back! We hope that everyone is coming into the new school year rested, relaxed, and ready to make a big difference for our school community. While the new year has barely started, the PTA officers and committee members have some exciting plans in place--new fundraisers, exiting contests, and big ideas to help our school.

  • 2010-11 Membership Drive: Sign up or renew your membership ASAP to become eligible for monthly gift card drawings as well as having your name showcased on a wall in the elementary school.
  • An Environmentally-Friend Fall Fundraiser: Our fall fundraiser features locally-made, handcrafted candles and soaps in a moderate price range--perfect for holiday gifts!
  • Sunny D Labels for Books Promotion: We will be collecting Sunny D product UPC labels from now until mid-November to earn free books for our school. We can earn 20 books for 20 UPC codes. Please send these to school with your child in a marked baggy or envelope as Sunny D Book Spree.
  • More Contests--The first contest is already in progress - see below.

We look forward to your ideas, participation and support. Our first PTA meeting is September 15th. Please join us for refreshments, to learn how to get involved, to meet our new officers, as well as to hear about this year's plans.

Fall Box Tops for Education (BTFE) and Tyson Project A+ Label Collection Contests

Last year the North Collins community collected over 2000 Box Tops for Education (BTFE) and Tyson Project A+ labels. This year we want to exceed this goal by collecting 2800 labels.

To be eligible for the Fall contest, please collect your labels and turn them into your child's teacher by Oct. 15, 2010. The top three classrooms and top BOCES classroom collecting the most labels will earn their choice of a pizza party or an ice cream social.

We have collection worksheets for BTFE labels available on our Web pages. Using these worksheets for the submitting the labels really helps our label coordinators count the labels so please utilize and submit—even if the sheet is incomplete. Each student that submits a complete sheet of 25 labels will be entered into a drawing for two $10 Wal-Mart gift cards during each contest period--fall, winter and spring. Make sure you put your child's name, their grade, and teacher's name on each sheet.

Turn Your Garbage Into Money for the School

Drink Pouch Recycling: The PTA is collecting used CapriSun, Honest Kids, Kool-Aid and generic brand drink pouches. By collecting these, the PTA will receive 1-2 cents per pouch. There is a collection bin in the cafeteria.

We will send these to TerraCycle, Inc., which will turn these into bags, pencil pouches, folders, and more. Their products are available at Target.

It's important that only empty pouches without straws are collected. We are not collecting other types of beverage containers. We have collection bins at school. If collected at home, pouches should be cut at top seam, rinsed and turned in at Save-A-Lot or the elementary school.
