Drink Pouch and Nabsico/Keebler Cookie Package Recycling With TerraCycle
Our recycling program is doing really well. We have received credit for shipping in 4,744 drink pouches which are worth $94.99. Thank you and keep up the promotion in the school and to friends!! Special thanks to Miranda Brenton and Sharon Bugenhagen for coordinating the program and processing the pouches.
Program Summary
The PTA is collecting clean, empty CapriSun, Honest Kids, Kool-Aid, and generic brand drink pouches. We are now collecting empty Nabisco and Keebler cookie packages to recycle with Terracycle.
By collecting these, the PTA will receive 1-2 cents per pouch/package, and the pouches/packages will be diverted from landfills.
Keebler cookie brands include Chips Deluxe, Vienna Fingers, Pecan Sandies, Vanilla Wafers, and more. Nabisco cookie brands include Chips Ahoy, Nutter Butter, Oreos, Teddy Grahams, Fig Newtons, and others. Please return clean, empty wrappers without the plastic insert to the elementary school cafeteria or Save-A-Lot collection bins.
We send pouches to TerraCycle, Inc., a company which will turn the pouches into bags, pencil pouches, folders, and more. Their products are available at Target.
It's important that only clean, empty pouches without straws are collected. We are not collecting other types of beverage containers such as bottles or juice boxes. We have collection bins at school. If collected at home, pouches should be cut at top seam, rinsed and turned in at Save-A-Lot or the elementary school.
