Budget Vote and Board of Education Member Election Information

Attention Residents of the North Collins Central School District:


The Annual Budget Hearing will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, at 7:00 p.m. in the Jr.-Sr. High School Library-Media Center.


The Annual Meeting and Voting on the 2020-2021 Total Educational Budget, the Purchase of School Vehicles, and the election of one (1) Board of Education Member will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, from 12:00 noon – 9:00 p.m. in the Jr.-Sr. High School Gymnasium.

The Board of Education will adopt the recommended School Budget for the 2020-2021 school year on or before April 24, 2020.  Copies of the budget will be available in the District Office on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 (14 days before the vote).  One (1) Board Member vacancy will be filled this year for a term beginning July 1, 2020 and ending June 30, 2025.  The five-year term of Heather Puntillo will expire on June 30, 2020.


In compliance with Sections §1608 and §1716 of the Education Law which states that the Statement of Expenditures must be completed at least 14 days prior to the Annual Meeting, Budget Vote and Election (May 19, 2020) you are hereby notified that said STATEMENT OF EXPENDITURES will be available for review in the District Office of the North Collins Central School District on May 5, 2020, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.


  • A Citizen of the United States

  • Eighteen (18) years of age

  • A resident within the district for a period of thirty (30) days prior to the vote


Nominating petitions for the election will be available at the bottom of this page and in the District Office beginning Thursday, March 26, 2020, weekdays from 8 a.m.–3:30 p.m. for anyone wishing to become a candidate for the School Board election taking place on Tuesday, May 19, 2020.

All petitions must be filed with the District Clerk in the District Office no later than MONDAY, APRIL 20, 2020 between 8 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Election will be conducted for one (1) seat:

Full Five (5) Year Term 7/01/20-6/30/25


Applications for absentee ballots are available in the District Office starting April 20, 2020, in the Jr.-Sr. High School Building, 2045 School Street, North Collins, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

There are specific reasons for the use of absentee ballots. A qualified voter in the district may use an absentee ballot for any one of the following:

1. Duties, work, or business outside of county.

2. Vacation outside of county.

3. Patient in hospital.

4. Unable to appear personally at the polling place due to illness or physical disability.

5. Incarceration:

  • Will be detained in jail for an offense other than a felony or is awaiting trial or grand jury action.
  • Will be confined in prison after conviction for an offense other than a felony.

6. Absence from the school district on the day of election by reason of accompanying or being with a spouse, child, or parent who is an eligible district voter and is eligible for an absentee ballot due to one of the listed reasons.

7. Confinement due to permanent illness or disability.

Those wishing to obtain an absentee ballot because of confinement due to permanent illness or disability need only apply ONCE for an absentee ballot. If determined eligible, they will be mailed absentee ballots prior to future elections without having to reapply.

How do you get an absentee ballot?

Just follow the steps below.


Absentee ballots may be issued only if your application is on file. Write to the District Office, 2045 School Street, P.O. Box 740, North Collins, NY 14111-0740 or call 337-0101, ext. 1301 for an application.

Requests for applications may be made no earlier than 30 days preceding the vote and not later than 7 days before the vote. For the May 19, 2020 budget vote, requests for applications for an absentee ballot may be made up to and including May 12, 2020.


After filling out the application for an absentee ballot, you must return it to the District Office located in the Jr.-Sr. High School. It may be mailed or hand-delivered, but must be received at least 7 days before the election for the ballot to be mailed to the voter, or May 12, 2020.


Assuming the above instructions have been properly completed and you have qualified for an absentee ballot, you will receive a ballot in the mail that will take the same basic form as that is used by the voting machine.

Follow the instructions on the ballot and either mail it or hand-deliver it to the District Office. However, it must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on the day of the vote (May 19, 2020).
